Our gig on December 15th showed that there is further development to be done with each member in the band but progress is slowly occuring when compared to our previous performance.
One of two things that went well was that dispite setbacks and ability barriers we performed all 6 songs in our setlist including an original which not every band did.
The second positive outcome was that our version of Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz had improved with timings and chords when compared to when we first peformed the song, this is because we had revisited the guitar parts and added additional chords to make the track fill the sonic space more effectively by varying the sounds produced as a result the track had a closer resemblence to the original version.
Two things that challenged us as a band were firstly; often as a band we would lack motivation to make suitible decisions and as a result struggled to meet deadlines especially when deciding on and learning material, we made poor choices as we hadn't took into concideration our ability as a band and this showed in certain songs where we were rushed to complete due to difficulties or delays from learning other material.
Secondly learning the same (correct) material for a track, when learning a track we learnt from tabs due to our abilities as a band and also to give better direction and confidence in what we were playing. But often when we came to reherse the song we would notice that we had learnt different parts and were undecided on who had the correct parts. To resolve this we would check we all had the same version of the song and that matched the original track so mistakes would be less likely.
Next time we would aim to choose songs that fufill the needs of the band, for example Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz was too simplistic and left members of the band only playing one or two notes for the entire song, on the other hand Numb by Linkin Park had too many instruments comared to the abilities of our band which meant certain parts of the song weren't close enough to the original track as different chords had to be played by different instruments.
In conclusion the audience responded well to the performance with Clint Eastwood being a favorite because of an additional guest vocalist who performed the rap section of the track, which I agree was fair and justified because Clint Eastwood was definetly our better perfomance and in the future we will use this format when there are multiple vocalists in the band because it allows us to explore and merge together different genres of music and reach to people from different music backgrounds.
