Conclusion To Spring 2016

Since September I have improved my timekeeping, chord knowledge, and lead technique and can now write original music and play existing music on guitar, and have learnt to use programmed music using a keyboard synth and externally sourced sound effects to make soundtracks for movie scenes. In doing this I have achieved and/or made progress on my Targets As A Musician. My progress has influenced the choice of music material and inclusively what we aim to produce as a band and have compromised to meet each other’s needs; our final project will consist of up to three original tracks and three covers to then be used on an EP, originally we wanted to produce six original tracks and have one cover song, however we had to change our plan due to time constraints and opting to cover extra songs instead meant that we could have a chance at meeting the deadline with good quality work.

The songs we chose to cover were Metallica's cover of "Am I Evil" originally performed by Diamondhead, Bowling For Soup's "High School Never Ends", and Courage My Love's "Skin And Bone" we felt this was a good choice of songs because it showcases a variety of our genre influences and also how music has changed over time but has still continued to influence our song writing, the song "Am I Evil" originally written by Diamond Head in 1980 and then covered by Metallica in 1984 (re-released in 98) representing our classic and modern metal influences, "High School Never Ends" from 2009 referencing a modern version the popular punk scene from the era we grew up in, and "Skin And Bone" being a newer release from 2015 and also a more relaxed song as it was originally composed with keyboards and the original songwriters Corage My Love are a female fronted band which makes a change from the predominantly male fronted songs we chose to cover.
