Musician VS Technician Activity 2

Role: Studio Technician/Producer What have you learnt from today’s activity?

Today I have learnt how to communicate and meet the needs of a band and health and safety requirements in a recording scenario and I can understand what works and what doesn't when it comes to preparing a recording studio for use and recording a live band.

What impact did your actions have upon the team/s? Positive or otherwise.

My previous experience with setting up and preparing live sound events helped as I had a good clear idea of what equipment would be needed and how to use it, to a similar effect in the recording process I was quick to notice problems and potential problems that could affect the outcome of the recording session, with my active participation in the activity myself and the rest of the group worked together to find solutions to problems quickly, however at times it seemed that I was the main person fetching equipment and setting things up which meant it took longer than perhaps it could have done if we shared duties equally, additionally the live room quickly became cramped with a group of people in there which meant people were falling over things and knocking things over.

Would you consider pursuing a University course or employment in the role you undertook?

Yes I would although it seems too soon for me personally to go to university but maybe in the future if I’m looking for things to do, employment would be my first choice at the moment.
